Territorial Dispute

This little story has been part of a "multi-media" plan for a while. Actually it won't be anything but this text and the sound for it. For samples I'm considering this recording (above) that was presented in concert at Bill Thompson's Phonography concert at the University of Aberdeen.

The first year of my PhD at DeMontfort I naively moved into the notorious Highfields area. There were a few 'characters' on the block. Occasionally my next door neighbor had to be forced to leave his doors open according to whatever deal he and his partners had. Disagreemnts involved breaking things, bodily injury and some talk about guns (never saw one). I don't know what they were selling, but it pretty much looked like girls and drugs. I met some interesting people hanging around my front door at night.

One night a guy got pushed out of a window (no harm, just a lot of broken glass). One overcharged visitor was in the street talking a little loud. The police came a few times. I recorded this from my apartment. Maybe I went out a little closer.
