The examples and studies herein are part of an investigation of the notion of plasticity in music and sound. This stage of the research is concerned with instrumental performance and an alternative to graphic symbolic communication. It introduces the concept of the aural score and, as one result of creating the aural score; a new approach to open form (another aspect of plasticity) is discovered.
